6th International Guitar Festival 2006 - Oscar Ghiglia
I got an invite to go to a concert last night. A concert by Italian musician, Oscar Ghiglia. It was really good. Had a front row seat so I could see the emotion and expression of the musician as he plucked at the guitar strings. Formerly an apprentice under the great master Andres Segovia, Ghiglia performed:
- Johann Sebastian Bach's: Lute Suite in G Major (BWV 995) - Prelude, Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Gavotte I & II en Rondeau, Gigue
- Heitor Villa Lobos': Preludes - No 1 in E minor, No 2 in E major, No 3 in A minor, No 4 in E minor, No 5 in D major
- Manuel De Falla's: Homenaje le Tombeau de Claude Debussy
- Joaquin Turina's: Sonata op. 61 - Allegro, Andante, Allegro Vivo and Sevillana Fantasia op. 29
And because the audience was appreciative and Ghiglia was in a good mood, he did 5 encores! Meanwhile, the Singaporeans started to shuffle in their seats because they all really wanted to leave. LOL! Anyway, good concert and an enjoyable night.
